mastering for discography done...things are slow..

the mastering is all finished now - thanks mr whinney! so i should be getting the tracks in the post any day now.
things have been going slower than i would have like with the afilghtoremember discography, but it is still coming. i promise. when? i don't know. what will it look like? i don't know. is anyone reading this? probably not.

the people at Punktastic and Banquet Records are releasing a 99 track compilation of bands all doing 30 second songs, as a sort of tribute to the fat wreck 'classic short music for short people'.

record nerd...

i've had a quiet night in, so i've spent it uploading all my records and tapes onto recordnerd. i had one of these years ago, but lost the logins for it and i've been meaning to redo it for a long while.
so, nearly all of my records and tapes are up there now. i need to do the cds next. it's pretty fun and satisfying to do, i'd recommend it. you can show it off to your friends. they'll love you for it.

aflightoremember discography. how to get it. whats g'wan.

the complete aflightoremember discography will be out later this year on Dead Ship Records. it will be the last dsr release and the final aflightoremember release, so i want to do something a bit different and special with it.
rather than doing the normal thing and just making up/getting pressed a set number of copies, i thought it would be pretty fun to just make as many as people want. each person's copy of the discography will be personal in some way - most likely the artwork will include their name somewhere on it, or there will be an individual thing referring to them on each one.
after that, there will be around 20 copies made for general sale.
the discography is still very much in the making, i've only just found all the songs that will go on it, but I can tell you for definite some of the facts about it:

It will be a multi disk CD set.
There will be close on 100 songs on it.
Every song I have ever recorded and released plus all the random demos/live stuff/unreleased stuff/collaborations will be featured on it.
The artwork will be beautiful - all cardboardy and nice - and will be designed by my long serving girlfriend Lauren, with me sticking my ore in making crap suggestions.
It will be the last Dead Ship Records release.
It will come with a free Dead Ship Records compilation CD.
It will be the last ever aflightoremember release.

so, basically, i want to know if you would like a copy of it. it will be priced at £5 including postage - which really isn't that bad when you think about how much you are getting..

now I know it's far too early to be doing pre-orders or things like that, but that will happen in the near future. i just want to know whether you would be interested - and it needs to be a serious interest.
if you do express interest now, i will ask you again in a month or so - because by that time i will have most of the things sorted and can start to go to print.

i've wacked up a nice little banner for this. it's an old picture i was going to use as a t-shirt design, but never got round to it. speaking of t-shirts, there are still some available at the aflightoremember store if anyone wants one. see the links to the left.

end of aflightoremember. new blog. madness.

okay. i realise this seems pretty unorthodox. aflightoremember is over, yet there's a new site/blog. i'm a fuckin' nutta.
i just wanted a way of keeping all the relevant information about aflightoremember together in one place - including any updates/details of new projects blah blah blah.

i'll get this out of the way early.
aflightoremember was a pretty big part of my life for about five years. i started writing songs in 2003 when i was 14 and i started gigging the next year. appallingly, i might add.

over the next three years or so, i managed to convince a lot of people all around the uk to let me play at their venue/pub/building/house. in between that, i released nine cds, one cassette and one vinyl. i also went on two uk tours (with Matthew Aldous in 2006 and then with Short Term Diary in 2007). my long suffering girlfriend lauren was dragged along for the entire ride. god bless her.

i decided to stop playing at the end of 2007 for a number of reasons.
firstly, i felt i had taken aflightoremember as far as i could - both creatively and exposure wise - and secondly, i found myself beginning to become slightly jaded with things and the way people were going about their business. i wanted to stop before i ruined it for myself. i think i managed it.
i played my last show at mister christopher's house on the 29/12/07 in front of and with old and new friends. it was pretty special and a lovely way to finish it.

the discography will be out real soon. there's a blog up on my myspace explaining everything. it will have 3 disks, the artwork will be lovely and it will cost a fiver.

i am going to make a serious effort to keep this updated, i promise. i've started writing for the punk blog saladdays, so i'll be on here a fair bit anyway. it's run by my good friend nick. check it out. it's radical. www.saladdayspunkrock.blogspot.com/
